Clover online ordering: what it costs a restaurant in 2026

Clover Online Ordering has no setup or monthly fee of its own. Online orders pay Clover's typed-in card rate, 3.5% + 10¢. What a month of orders costs.

Clover Online Ordering is free to turn on for a restaurant that already runs Clover: there is no setup fee and no subscription for it. For pickup and dine-in orders, Clover says the only fee is the card-not-present rate, which its pricing pages list as 3.5% + 10¢ for a typed-in card. It needs a Clover POS, from $135 a month on a 36-month subscription or $849 plus $89.95 a month. On 300 online orders at $30, the card fees come to $345 a month.

What does Clover Online Ordering cost?

These are the prices on Clover’s own pages on October 26, 2026. Clover notes that the prices shown are only available on Clover.com.

Setup fee for online ordering None
Monthly fee for online ordering None. Clover’s pricing tables list “No-fee online ordering” on every restaurant bundle
Commission on orders None listed
Online card rate 3.5% + 10¢, the “card information typed in” rate. Clover says online orders pay the card-not-present rate
In-person card rate, for comparison 2.3% + 10¢

Clover’s pricing FAQ says card rates “come in pairs”: an in-person rate and a slightly higher typed-in rate for sales where the card is not present, “like an online sale or phone order.” Its ordering websites page says the only fees that apply to online ordering are the card-not-present rates.

What Clover plan do you need?

Online ordering comes with Clover’s Restaurant Growth software plan, which every restaurant bundle on Clover.com includes. You either get the hardware on a 36-month subscription with no money down or buy it and pay for the software monthly.

Bundle Subscription, 36 months Or buy the hardware
Quick-service Starter (Mini) $135 a month $849 plus $89.95 a month
Quick-service Standard (Station Duo) $185 a month $1,899 plus $89.95 a month
Quick-service Advanced (Station Duo and Flex) $245 a month $2,648 plus $109.90 a month
Full-service Starter (Station Solo) $179 a month $1,799 plus $89.95 a month
Full-service Standard (Station Solo and Flex) $239 a month $2,548 plus $109.90 a month
Full-service Advanced (Station Solo, Flex and Station Duo) $354 a month $4,447 plus $129.85 a month

Clover’s FAQ says subscriptions cannot be cancelled and are not refundable, though you can pay one off or upgrade. Over 36 months the quick-service Starter subscription comes to $4,860. Card processing is billed on top of every bundle.

Clover also sells through banks and resellers, and its FAQ says contract terms and termination fees vary by provider. If you got Clover from your bank, your rates may differ from the ones above.

What does a month of online orders cost on Clover?

Say a restaurant takes 300 online pickup orders a month at $30, or $9,000, on the quick-service Starter bundle. We leave tax and tip out of the order total to keep the numbers simple, although Clover charges its rate on the whole card payment.

Cost Subscription Bought hardware
Card processing, 3.5% of $9,000 plus 300 x 10¢ $345 $345
Clover bundle $135 $89.95, after $849 up front
Commission $0 $0
Monthly total $480 $434.95

The same 300 orders paid in person would cost $237 at 2.3% + 10¢. So the online rate adds $108 a month over taking the same sales at the counter.

If you already pay for Clover to run your counter, the bundle is a cost you have anyway, and online ordering adds only the $345 in card fees.

Do guests pay a fee on Clover online orders?

We put one item in the cart at a Clover ordering page, Kirkland Family Restaurant in Kirkland, Illinois, and went to guest checkout without paying. An $11.95 pickup order showed $0.75 of tax, a $1.79 tip, which was the 15% option already filled in, and a total of $14.49. There was no service fee or convenience fee line.

We checked one restaurant. Apart from the delivery fee, which Clover’s blog says a restaurant can pass on to guests, none of the Clover pages we read lists a fee for guests on Clover’s own ordering page.

What does Clover delivery cost?

Clover sends delivery orders from its ordering page to DoorDash Drive drivers, and it can also bring Grubhub orders into the POS. Clover’s delivery page gives no price. A Clover blog post, which carries no date, says DoorDash charges a $6.99 delivery fee per order, invoiced monthly, and that you can pass some or all of it on to guests. At that rate, 100 deliveries cost $699 a month.

Ask Clover for the current delivery fee before you plan around it. Our breakdown of DoorDash fees for restaurants covers what DoorDash’s own plans charge.

Is Clover Online Ordering worth it?

If you already run Clover, use it. You pay for no extra software, orders print in the kitchen and land in the Clover POS, and guests at the restaurant we checked paid no extra fee. Clover also lists curbside pickup, scheduled orders, Scan to Order at the table, and a listing in the Clover app.

It is a harder sell if you would buy Clover only to take online orders. The cheapest bundle is $135 a month on a 36-month subscription you cannot cancel, though you can pay it off, or $849 up front plus $89.95 a month. And the online rate of 3.5% + 10¢ is higher than the 2.3% + 10¢ you pay in person. Restaurants on Toast or Square already have their own ordering pages; our Toast online ordering costs and Toast vs Square comparison work through those.

Where Expresso fits

Expresso is not a POS, and it has no delivery. If you run Clover and want delivery through DoorDash Drive, Clover’s own ordering page is the simpler choice, and on card fees alone it costs a Clover restaurant less than Expresso does.

Expresso takes pickup, curbside, scheduled and table orders from your own link and rings them on a kitchen tablet of its own ($149 once), separate from your POS. There is no monthly fee and no contract. The restaurant pays card processing of 3.2% + 30¢ on the order total, and guests pay a 2.5% convenience fee on the food subtotal, shown at checkout. On the same 300 orders at $30, before tax and tip, that is about $385 a month to the restaurant and $225 in guest fees.

For a restaurant that would buy Clover only for online orders, the Starter subscription at $480 is $95 a month more than Expresso’s $385. With bought hardware, Clover’s $434.95 is about $50 more, after $849 up front against Expresso’s $149 tablet. Expresso’s guests also pay the $225, which Clover’s guests did not at the restaurant we checked. Per $30 order, Expresso costs the restaurant about 13¢ more than Clover’s online rate, so Clover’s $135 a month evens out at about 1,000 orders, and $89.95 at about 670. Expresso has promo codes but no loyalty program. Our comparison of online ordering systems prices the other options.
