GloriaFood, Oracle’s free online ordering system, reaches end of life on April 30, 2027, so every restaurant on it needs a new system before then. At 150 card orders a month, the closest match on total price with no guest fee is Square online ordering on Square Free: $0 a month and 3.3% + 30¢ per order, or $193.50 on $30 orders, against $204.50 on GloriaFood today. Menufy, ChowNow and Owner.com add $149 to $499 a month. Expresso costs $192.60, with a 2.5% guest fee.
When does GloriaFood shut down?
GloriaFood’s home page says: “GloriaFood will reach end of life on April 30, 2027. We remain committed to supporting existing customers through this date.” At least one competitor’s switching page gives a different date: FoodChow’s says the platform “retires on March 31, 2027”. We plan around GloriaFood’s own date, which is what its home page said on November 3, 2026, and FoodAmigos’s page gives the same April 30.
Oracle does not offer its own replacement. The same notice names one company, FoodAmigos, as a provider “that offers online ordering and related solutions” with onboarding help for GloriaFood customers.
What does GloriaFood cost now, and what are you replacing?
GloriaFood’s basic plan is free: no monthly fee, no commission, no setup fee and no contract. The paid parts are on its pricing page:
| GloriaFood service | Price |
|---|---|
| Ordering widget, QR code dine-in ordering, scheduled orders, delivery zones, table reservations, promos | Free |
| Online card payments (connects your own payment gateway) | $29 a month |
| Advanced promo marketing | $19 a month |
| Table reservation deposits | $0.50 per guest, accepted bookings only |
| GloriaFood POS | $49 a month per location, 2-year commitment |
The $29 add-on connects GloriaFood to your own payment gateway, and the money goes straight to your account. You still pay the gateway. We use Stripe’s standard rate as the example: 2.9% + 30¢ per successful domestic card payment. At that rate, a restaurant taking cards online through GloriaFood pays $29 a month plus 2.9% + 30¢ per order, and GloriaFood lists no guest fee.
List what you use before you compare. A restaurant that only takes pickup orders has more options than one running its own delivery zones and table reservations through GloriaFood.
What will a GloriaFood alternative cost each month?
Say a restaurant takes 150 or 600 online orders a month at $30 of food each. We leave tax and tip out to keep the numbers comparable. Card processing is normally charged on the whole card payment, tax and tip included, so real costs run a little higher. Plans are the cheapest one that takes online card orders, billed annually where there is a choice.
| System | Monthly fee | Per order, restaurant | 150 orders, restaurant | 600 orders, restaurant | Guests pay, 600 orders |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GloriaFood, gateway at Stripe’s rate (until April 30, 2027) | $29 | 2.9% + 30¢ = $1.17 | $204.50 | $731.00 | $0 |
| Square Free | $0 | 3.3% + 30¢ = $1.29 | $193.50 | $774.00 | $0 |
| Square Plus | $49 | 2.9% + 30¢ = $1.17 | $224.50 | $751.00 | $0 |
| Menufy, annual | $149 | 2.75% + 30¢ = $1.125 | $317.75 | $824.00 | $1,050 ($1.75 each) |
| ChowNow Launch, annual | From $229, plus $119 to $499 setup once | 2.95% + 29¢ = $1.175 | $405.25 | $934.00 | $0 on your own site |
| Owner.com Flex | $249 | 5% of $30 + 2.9% of $31.50 + 30¢ = $2.71 | $656.03 | $1,877.10 | $900 (5% each) |
| Owner.com Flat | $499 | 2.9% of $31.50 + 30¢ = $1.21 | $681.03 | $1,227.10 | $900 (5% each) |
| Expresso | $0, plus $149 tablet once | 3.2% of $30.75 + 30¢ = $1.28 | $192.60 | $770.40 | $450 (2.5% each) |

Some rows need a note:
- Owner.com guests pay a 5% order support fee, so a $30 order is charged $31.50, and Owner’s help center says processing of 2.9% + 30¢ is charged on the full amount the guest pays. We assume the 5% restaurant fee on Flex is on the food subtotal. Owner can also turn on a credit card surcharge, usually 3%, which guests pay; we leave it off.
- Menufy’s guest convenience fee was $1.75 on both test carts we built at one Menufy restaurant on October 24, 2026 (a $9.99 cart and a $49.98 cart). Menufy does not publish the fee, so another restaurant’s may differ.
- ChowNow’s 7.5% “Support Local Fee” applies only to orders on the ChowNow app and eat.chownow.com, so guests ordering from your own ChowNow site pay none.
- ChowNow lists its plan prices as “starting at”, so its totals are minimums.
- GloriaFood lists no guest fee and Square adds none, although on Square you can add your own service charge.
- Expresso charges 3.2% + 30¢ on the whole order, including the 2.5% guest fee, so a $30 order is charged on $30.75.
At 150 orders, Square Free and Expresso cost the restaurant about the same, and both cost less than staying on GloriaFood at Stripe’s rate. At 600 orders, the 0.4-point lower card rate on Square Plus makes it cheaper than Square Free, and GloriaFood at Stripe’s rate is the cheapest of all until it closes.
Which GloriaFood alternative fits which restaurant?
- Square, if you already use Square at the counter or want a low restaurant cost with no guest fee. Online ordering is included on every plan, with pickup and local delivery. QR code ordering at the table needs Square Plus. See our Square online ordering cost breakdown.
- Menufy, if you want someone else to build the site and run email and text promotions. That is what the $149 or $179 a month pays for, along with a 12-month agreement on the cheaper plan. Guests pay the convenience fee. Our Menufy pricing breakdown has the full fee list.
- ChowNow, if you want a branded app and marketing tools and can pay $229 a month or more plus a setup fee. Guests ordering on your own site pay no ChowNow fee. QR code ordering at the table needs the Grow plan, from $319 a month billed annually. See ChowNow pricing.
- Owner.com, if you want a full restaurant website built for search and you have high online sales. Guests pay 5% on every order on both plans. See Owner.com pricing.
- FoodAmigos, if you want the company Oracle named. Its pricing page lists no price (“One clear price. No hidden costs.” with a demo form), and its GloriaFood page is written mostly for resellers who sell GloriaFood to restaurants. It is based in Berlin and says it serves 4,000+ restaurants across the US, UK, Europe, Canada and the Middle East. Get a written quote before you compare it.
If you used GloriaFood for delivery, check that the new system covers it. GloriaFood lets you draw your own delivery zones. Square offers local delivery with your staff or third-party couriers, ChowNow’s Flex Delivery costs $7.98 an order, and Expresso has no delivery.
How do you switch from GloriaFood?
- Copy your menu, prices, modifiers and hours out of GloriaFood, and ask the new provider what it can import for you.
- Set up the new system and test a real order end to end, including payment and the kitchen alert, before you change anything public.
- Replace the “See MENU & Order” widget on your website, your Google Business Profile ordering link, your Facebook ordering link and any printed QR codes on the same day.
- Leave GloriaFood running for a week or two in case an old link still sends orders, then close it well before April 30, 2027.
Starting a few months early gives you time to fix the menu and train staff. More on what to look for in any system is in our guide to online ordering systems for restaurants.
Is Expresso a GloriaFood alternative?
For pickup, curbside, dine-in and scheduled orders, yes. Expresso has no monthly fee, no setup fee and no contract. The kitchen tablet costs $149 once, card processing is 3.2% + 30¢ per order out of your payout, guests pay a 2.5% convenience fee shown at checkout, and payouts go to your bank weekly. Guests at the table can order by QR code, with the table number on the order.
It does not replace everything GloriaFood did. Expresso has no delivery, no table reservations, no loyalty program (promo codes are the only discount), and it is not a POS. If you rely on GloriaFood’s delivery zones or reservations, Square or one of the paid systems above is the better fit.
Take orders online without a monthly fee
Expresso gives your restaurant its own ordering page, QR codes for every table and a kitchen tablet. No monthly fee and no contract: card processing of 3.2% + 30¢ per order.
